Judge Sam Fox has dedicated his career to public service, the law, and the people of West Virginia.

He currently serves as a Circuit Court Judge for the 15th Judicial Circuit in Fayette County, having been appointed by Governor Patrick Morrisey in 2025. Judge Fox is a graduate of West Virginia University College of Law and West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he played and was named the captain of his college tennis team.

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Fox spent more than 30 years as a partner at Flaherty Sensabaugh Bonasso, PLLC, where he served as Chairman of the firm’s Health Care Group and tried approximately 35 cases to verdict in state and federal courts. His legal career focused on defending hospitals, physicians, and health-care professionals in complex medical malpractice and licensure matters.

Judge Fox has been honored as Health Care Lawyer of the Year in Charleston and has been consistently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America and West Virginia Super Lawyers. He is a former Chairman of the West Virginia State Bar Law & Medicine Committee and has lectured statewide on medical-legal and risk management issues.

In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Fox serves on the Board of Trustees of West Virginia Wesleyan College, teaches Business Law and Sports Law at the University of Charleston, and is deeply involved in community service, including decades of leadership in youth athletics, scholarship foundations, and church ministries.
